The Case of Eva Johansson.

Sweden, May 2020.

The naked body of 24-year-old Eva Johansson was found on the ground floor of the house she was renting. She was found strangled with a thick electrical cord coiled twice and formed into a noose, tightly tied over a small but very thick black plastic bag that she was wearing over her head.
Her hands were tied behind her back with a men’s leather belt, loose enough that she could turn them slightly to prevent numbness, but not loose enough for her to free herself.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Eva led an extreme sexual lifestyle—more specifically, she had a fetish for breath control through strangulation and hanging—which she practiced during sexual encounters with others, both men and women, or when she was alone.
On her laptop, she had stored many different videos of herself engaging in these acts in a very rough and extreme manner.

On the day of her death, she had sex with a young man, suggesting that he fulfill her fantasies as a condition for sleeping with her. Her plan was for him to tie her hands behind her back, place a plastic bag over her head and a noose made from an electrical cord—leaving it loose so she could breathe for the time being—and then begin having sex with her from behind. And then to pull hard on the cord and tie it tightly around her neck as soon as she said the word “nu” (meaning “now” in Swedish). This meant she was about to reach orgasm and wanted the added sensation of severe strangulation for an even greater effect. And then he was to immediately loosen the noose and remove the bag as soon as she reached orgasm and/or passed out. She had also turned on a video camera to record everything.

But the young man had never done anything like this before, so he was completely unprepared. In the heat of the moment, with loud music playing, after she said “now,” he pulled the rope with tremendous force, accidentally killing her.

When it was over, he finally realized that Eva was completely silent and motionless.
The young man panicked and decided to grab the camera and run out of there.
But about 20 or 30 minutes after leaving her house, he called the police and told them what had happened. He likely realized that there was incriminating evidence all over the scene; plus, people had seen them together at the café where they’d agreed to meet for their sexual encounter.

The video recordings from that day, which showed her demands, along with her previous videos in which she took her dangerous fetish to the extreme, ultimately led to the death being classified as an accidental death resulting from erotic asphyxiation.
