MANGALURU: In a shocking incident a woman thrashed her aged mother with footwear over a domestic dispute at Shivanagar in Moodushedde, a suburb of Mangaluru. A video of the incident was widely shared on social media, but no complaint had been lodged with the police so far.

Nethravathi physically assaulted her own mother Nirmala, in public. Nirmala, who is originally from Vijayapura and has been living in Shivanagar for the past six years, has been facing mental health issues, and frequent clashes have been happening between her and her daughter. She even disowned Nethravathi as her daughter.

On Wednesday, Nirmala had gone to the Moodushedde Gram Panchayat to complain about her daughter, seeking to remove her name from her family tree. However, when the panchayat staff told Nirmala that it could not be done at their end, Nethravathi arrived at the scene and pushed her mother out of the panchayat office, assaulting her in the process.

The incident was witnessed by several people, but no one intervened. Nethravathi even threatened the panchayat staff with dire consequences if they tried to interfere, and also hurled abuses at them. She even threatened to file a false rape case against any man who dared to come near her.

Surprisingly, no complaint has been registered in this regard, despite the incident being reported to the police. Police Commissioner Sudhir Reddy stated that they have not received any complaint about the incident, which occurred three days ago.
