A man has been charged after security camera footage showed him approaching and groping a 14-year-old girl inside a self-service market located within a residential condominium in Brazil.

Authorities identified the suspect as 48-year-old Eduardo Silva Prado, who lives in the same condominium as the victim. The incident happened in February and was reported to police as sexual harassment involving a minor.

Surveillance video obtained by local media shows the man pretending to talk on the phone before attempting to approach the teenager. The girl notices him and moves away.

Moments later, the man repeats the same behavior, again pretending to speak on the phone before walking up behind the girl and touching her while she is facing away.

The girl’s family obtained the security footage and filed a police report the same day the incident occurred.

Child protection authorities are now monitoring the case, and the girl’s family has been advised on the legal steps moving forward. The teenager has already undergone a specialized interview with professionals trained to handle cases involving minors.

Police say the victim is expected to provide a formal statement in the coming days as the investigation continues.
