"A 37-year-old man was shot and killed after another person stole his holstered gun at an Exxon gas station in Jonesboro, according to a Facebook post from Clayton County Police Department.

It happened on Thursday; police said they were dispatched regarding a person, who had been shot on Flint River Road at a gas station.

Investigators said 37-year-old Shannon Watkins walked into the convenience store to buy a drink and had his holstered gun on his hip. While in line at the register, a man came behind him, grabbed his gun and ran out of the store, according to police. Authorities said Watkins followed the man outside and began to scuffle with him for the gun. That led to the weapon firing off "several shots," hitting Watkins, police said. While trying to get away, a second suspect got out of a car and started shooting at Watkins.

The two men drove away in a white Chrysler 300. Watkins was rushed to a local hospital but later died, according to the police department. Kenderrion Muse, 18, was taken into custody and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault with intent to kill, robbery by sudden snatching, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime. He was booked into the Clayton County Jail.

Ervin Jr. was taken into custody on Friday by the Clayton County Sheriff's Department on warrants of felony murder, aggravated assault with intent to kill, robbery by snatching, cruelty to children 1st degree, criminal damage 1st degree, firearms- discharge near a highway, reckless conduct, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime."
