You are attempting to speak rational to an irrational act. But the extensive damage looks like he used a high caliber, .probably a shotgun which should have done the job .. bad aim, or he hesitated and didn't back out quick enough.

His injury actually isn't that horrible considering... I've seen far worse from shotgun suicide attempts where there is essentially no face and they still reconstruct some form of a "face" back on the poor souls body. I'm a paramedic so I see attempts quite often. A lot survive oddly enough. This wasn't from a shotgun, looks more like a high caliber rifle round. Could be wrong though. But, Yeah put it directly under the chin and slightly back, your whole head will explode. Or just right to the side of the head with a shotgun. Like the Russian guy with the Saiga.

Oh yeah absolutely no way, unless it was the worlds shittiest shotgun. Usually they straight up have no face when they survive. I could go on and on but we have a lot of meth heads here, and one guy was slamming meth up for like a week and thought he needed to put his infant daughter in the microwave. She was in there cooking for like over 24 hours. The tweaker mom came home and found it. The kid was like just turned into a soup with a head and the smell was so bad. The tweaker husband blew the wife's head off too when the cops came. On a tweaker side note, I saw a methhead literally cut his own arm fully off, or the aftermath rather. That was pretty crazy.

Yeah, that one was terrible. I've head of a few other similar stories from other paramedics and one cop buddy. One was an oven I think though. The meth is horrible but it's staying up for over a week at a time that's even worse than the drug itself. Combined you always get some violent, paranoid, insane tweakers lol. It's actually surprising how quickly you get desensitized to it, it subconsciously fucks you up though. Like I get nightmares all the time and probably have PTSD. I was in the army too though so. High burnout rate from paramedics though. It's a fun ass job if you can stomach it though. Crime scene clean up is another interesting line of work. Those people have some wild stories too.
