Exactly. It's not like every culture hasn't done this. Based on a lot of comments some even in so called first world countries want to do this. Do they really want to see this or is it just part of the far right bullshit. This type of extremism always appears to be far right conservatives or religious extremists. Do you really want your eye plucked out or you hands cut off? Most of you live in a Country were some punishments are determined to be cruel and unusually. A lot of you consider this to be third world, "shithole" Country punishments. Do you want to go back to a time when this is acceptable? You do not want to live in a Country that approves of this punishment. Beware if you have stolen a candy bar, cheated on your taxes, cheated on you spouse or maybe even sex outside of marriage. Let religion get hold of your Government and see what happens.

the middle east is in the medieval age we once had, the only hardest punishment for really extreme crimes (murder etc.) should be the death penalty though, after a fair process. There is no need to cripple people for stealing, just put them behind bars. This isn't even a whole religion thing, you just need to have some common sense and an IQ above 95

They are in a medieval/religious age based on religious beliefs they wish to continue. After all, the medieval people relied on religion to guide their existence. Currently this is happening in some Countries, hence the title "Fun with the Sharia." Fortunately clear minded, intelligent thinking people understand this is not how civilization should be governed. Unfortunately this type of punishment is a "religion thing." Common sense is not always a characteristic displayed by religious people and they often do not display they have an IQ above "95". It is someones prerogative if they choose to believe in a God they cannot prove exists, will not save their lives, will not give them wealth and will not answer their prayers; however, they must remember it is a belief they cannot forcefully impose on others. Religion has no place in government.
