San Antonio police released video Wednesday from the August 16 shooting in the 6700 block of Spring Front Drive, near Babcock Road.
The man had called 911 to report people in his backyard with a gun, according to the department. When officers arrived, he came outside holding two large knives.
The released video shows an officer ordering the man to drop the knives. Authorities say he moved toward the officer and then ran in his direction while still armed. The officer fired, striking him.
The man, identified by police as 56-year-old Gregory Boaz, was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured.
