In British Kenya, the natives celebrate the British handing over control and allowing them to establish their own government.
The celebrations begin with fireworks but end with crowds of locals destroying goods imported from European countries or from African colonies that have not yet gained independence, such as Portuguese eggs and South African oranges and beer.
I couldn't find an exact date, but since British Kenya lasted until the '60s, I suppose it must be sometime in 1963 or 1964.
