Two thieves died and two others—aged 15 and 16—were wounded after being shot on Monday night (7) in the Carlos Sampaio area of ​​Austin, Nova Iguaçu, in the Baixada Fluminense region.

According to information released about the incident, the four were committing robberies in the area when they were captured. Footage recorded prior to the shooting shows the four individuals already subdued and lying on the ground. In one of the videos, a man is seen accusing the group of robbery.

After being captured, the four were shot. Military police officers from the 20th Battalion (Mesquita) were dispatched to the scene on Itabaiana Street and found the thieves lying on the ground.

One of the thieves died at the scene. The other three were taken to the Nova Iguaçu General Hospital (HGNI).

One thief, estimated to be between 20 and 24 years old, arrived at the hospital in critical condition with multiple wounds but succumbed to his injuries and died. This brought the death toll among the group to two.

The other two thieves are adolescents, aged 15 and 16. They remain hospitalized in stable condition and are expected to undergo surgery.

The Baixada Fluminense Homicide Division (DHBF) is investigating the case and looking into the circumstances surrounding how the four were captured and subsequently shot.
