Pamela Mastropietro, just 18 years old, was a girl addicted to heroin; she was admitted to a detox center in Macerata, Italy, because of this.
On January 29, 2018, she had secretly escaped from the center and taken a taxi to Diaz Gardens to buy more of the substance she was addicted to. There, she met Innocent Oseghale, a 30-year-old illegal immigrant from Nigeria who was also a drug dealer. Since Oseghale did not have any heroin on him, she went with him to his home to use it. After both were under the influence of heroin, Pamela was sexually assaulted and ultimately murdered.

Investigators determined that her killer strangled or stabbed her to death during the same attack.
To dispose of the body, he dismembered and decapitated her using various types of knives and washed the remains with bleach. He then packed her remains into two suitcases, took a trolley, and dumped them by the side of the road.

The police managed to track down Innocent Oseghale and were able to link him to the crime thanks to eyewitness testimony and security camera footage.
In May 2019, the court sentenced Oseghale to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Oseghale attempted to appeal his sentence on several occasions. During an appeal in 2023, Alessandra Verni, Pamela Mastropietro’s mother, appeared in court to protest Oseghale’s appeals. And she did so in the most macabre way possible: she had printed a T-shirt featuring actual photographs of her daughter’s mutilated remains.
Other supporters followed suit, demonstrating with signs that also featured actual images of Pamela’s remains.
