I’m not denying that this happened—it’s an indisputable fact—but (as far as I know) there’s no real information about who this girl was or what happened to her. Although the popular narrative is the same as the one you mention, it’s not even known if she was German. There are theories that she was of another nationality (I don’t remember which, I think Czechoslovakian), and specific names have even been cited that could have been her identity.
