Nicolas Evan Berg.
The first foreign hostage executed in Iraq by Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, Nick was an American freelance radio tower repairman who went to Iraq working for a US-based company after the US invasion of Iraq. The circumstances of his kidnapping are still unknown; all that is known is that he was kidnapped from his hotel sometime after April 10, 2004.

On May 8, 2004, Berg's body was found.
Berg's body was found decapitated on May 8, 2004, on a Baghdad overpass by a U.S. military patrol. Berg's family was informed of his death two days later. Military sources stated publicly at the time that Berg's body showed "signs of trauma," but did not disclose that he had been decapitated.

Kim Sun-il.
The second foreign hostage executed by Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad, Kim Sun-il arrived in Iraq on June 15, 2003, working as an Arabic interpreter for Gana General Trading Company, a South Korean company under contract to the American military. He was kidnapped on May 30, 2004, and held hostage for several weeks.

Video sent to Al Jazeera by Jama'at al-Tawhid wa'l Jihad of Kim Sun-Il pleading for his life shortly after his kidnapping in Fallujah. In this video, the kidnappers set a deadline for South Korea to remove their troops from Iraq. That deadline was June 21. Obviously, the Korean government did not cave to their commands, and Kim Sun-il was beheaded a few days later.

June 23, 2004 Kim's body is found.
U.S. soldiers on a routine patrol found the body of Kim Sun-il between Baghdad and Fallujah, 22 miles west of the capital, at about noon. They said that Kim's body was booby-trapped with explosives but that the explosives did not go off.

Mohammed Fawzi Abdaal Mutwalli.
The sixth foreign hostage executed by Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad and the first Egyptian, this man had been living and working in Iraq for 20 years at the time of his kidnapping and execution. He was accused of being a spy working for the United States.

August 13, 2004 Mohammed is beheaded.

Paul Marshall Johnson Jr.
Paul Marshall Johnson Jr. was an American helicopter engineer working in Saudi Arabia helping train the national guard to be able to repair the sensors on their helicopters.

June 15, 2004 (AQAP) Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula released a video of an American man born in New Jersey named Paul Marshall Johnson Jr. who had been kidnapped at a fake police checkpoint near Riyadh on June 12, 2004. Along with this hostage video, a document was posted listing demands and containing a photograph of Marshall bound as well as a picture of his American identification card and his Saudi identification card.
AQAP gave Saudi Arabia 72 hours to release all Al-Qaeda prisoners from Saudi jails or they would execute Johnson. Unfortunately for Johnson, they kept their word.

A series of three photographs published by AQAP on June 18, 2004, showed Johnson's severed head. Later that day, a videotape showing his beheading was published.
