5 year old boy killed by a bus while hunting for Telolet horns at Merak Harbor
CILEGON, KOMPAS.com - A 5 year old boy died after being run over by a bus while hunting for telolet horns on Jalan Raya Merak, Cilegon City, Banten, Sunday (17/3/2024) afternoon. The victim's name is Rendi, a resident of Madaksa Sebrang Neighborhood, Taman Sari Village, Pulo Merak District, Cilegon City. The victim was crushed to death by an AKAP bus with plate number BG 7144 W while entering the Merak Harbor executive pier.
In the CCTV video obtained by Kompas.com, the victim can be seen running with his friends and asking for the horn of the bus driven by Timbul Jaya (33), a resident of Pagar Alam, South Sumatra. However, the victim fell while running to catch the bus which continued from Cilegon to the executive pier of Merak Port.
The victim's body, which fell because it was hit by the bus, was crushed by the left rear tire and was declared dead on the spot. "It happened this afternoon at 13.30 WIB in front of the executive pier when a pedestrian (victim) ran next to the bus asking for telolet," said Head of the Cilegon Police Traffic Unit Law Enforcement Unit Ipda Dwi Maryanto when confirmed by Kompas.com, Sunday. Dwi said the victim died at the location, then officers took the victim to the Krakatau Medika Hospital (RSKM) Cilegon for further treatment. "As a result of this incident, Rendi's brother died at the crime scene and was taken to RSKM Cilegon," said Dwi.
