This happened directly after the 2019 mosque attacks in New Zealand, where an Australian man killed 51 people and injured 40. The guy who got egged is Fraser Anning, who is a fascist, far-right politician, and his response to the attacks was to speak out against muslims and immigration. William Connolly, the kid who egged Anning, is forever known as Egg Boy and is somewhat of a hero. He used his 15 minutes of fame after this event to start a Go Fund Me and donated the proceedings (about 100k AUD) to the victims of the attacks
