Events occurred inside the Cindea classroom.

(CRHoy.com) Jazmín Torres Rankin was taking an exam with her 16-year-old son, when she was shot to death inside a classroom at the Integrated Center for Adult Education (Cindea), this Tuesday in Tortuguero, Limón.

This was stated by his son, Johansel, in an interview with Telenoticias, where he assured that he heard several shots, but never imagined the tragedy.

It was his brother who called him at around 6:15 pm and told him that his mother had been killed in the same classroom where they were taking a Spanish exam.

“ He will never forget it. I know that he is suffering even if he does not show it (…) just as he happened to my mother, he could happen to anyone , ”she said before demanding justice.

According to the boy, “I didn't believe what happened. Just in the morning we were talking, laughing ," the young man said with a cracking voice.

In the same interview, Johansel said that her mother wanted to get ahead and that she was always a hard-working woman, who even worked on a cruise ship. In fact, the exam she was taking was to graduate as a bachelor.

According to the information provided by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ), the case would be a settling of accounts.

Torres Rankin was shot in the head, chest, and buttocks by two subjects who entered the classroom with their faces covered. 

The 42-year-old woman was declared dead after 8:00 pm on Tuesday by the Ministry of Public Security ( MSP ). The incident caused the corresponding protocol to be immediately activated , reported the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Public Education ( MEP ) in Guápiles de Pococí.

The case is under investigation, because at the moment it is not known what caused the apparent settling of accounts.
