This is the first time we've seen Ukraine actually attack such a well-fortified Russian position. In previous Ukrainian offensives, the Russians were not expecting such an attack. Maybe modern conflicts with equally powerful enemies are a lot harder than we previously thought, and the Ukrainians will be unable to achieve a significant breakthrough. The Ukrainians were pretty much always playing a defensive role, so it's going to be interesting seeing their offensive capabilities against the Russian military. I personally don't think the offensive will achieve anything significant. The Gulf War was so easy because the US had complete air superiority. The Ukrainians do not have this luxury, and NATO doctrine relies HEAVILY on air support. This means western tanks will be exposed to many different forms of enemy fire. Zelensky himself admitted that Ukraine will lose a lot of men in this operation, and to be completely real here, I don't expect these tanks to perform much better than their Soviet counterparts. I think people forget that the Soviet Union was literally leading the way in tank technology up until the 80's. While the US was still using M60 tanks with no extra protection, the USSR already developed advanced ERA systems. It wasn't until the M1 Abrams did things change, and even then; I don't think the Abrams will significantly outperform the T-90. I think this war will draw down to a stalemate. Yeah and another thing to remember is that Ukraine has not even been given the best tanks that nato has to offer.

The lack of air support is a big issue, its interesting to see that they're making the same mistakes that the Russians did all winter, being forced down tight avenues of advance due to mine fields while being hit by artillery that has been zeroed onto those areas while recon drones provide real time fire corrections.

Yes, Ukraine has so far only received the export version of these tanks so they may not perform as well on the battlefield. Good mention.
