Police release details of A50 bridge crash that killed two
Officers are asking anyone who saw the incident or who may have dash cam footage of it to come forward and help with the investigation
17 APR, 2023- Police have released further details about the A50 bridge crash which killed two people at the weekend. Officers have also asked anyone who saw the incident or who may have dash cam footage of it to come forward and help with the investigation.
The incident was on the eastbound side of the carriageway, between Toyota Island and Chellaston. It occurred shortly after 10am on Sunday (April 16).
Two men were travelling in a Bentley Bentayga when it left the carriageway and struck a bridge pillar. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Derbyshire Police said in a statement: "Officers investigating a fatal collision on the A50 are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage. The collision occurred on the eastbound side of the carriageway between Toyota Island and Chellaston at around 10.15am on Sunday 16 April.
"Two men, who were in a Bentley Bentayga which left the carriageway and struck a bridge pillar, were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigations are ongoing and officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or who has dashcam footage.
"We are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a black BMW which was travelling behind the Bentley just before the collision as they may have information which could help with our investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact us, quoting the reference 23*227417."
