“I hope he gets locked up so I can live.” The request is from Gabriela da Silva Malaquias, 25, who was attacked by her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend last Saturday (10) at a nightclub in the Pampulha region of Belo Horizonte. The man has been arrested since last Sunday (11), at the Prison System Relocation Center (Ceresp) Gamaleira. “I want justice for myself, for my daughter and for my family members. I’m afraid he’ll get someone to hit me”, vents the victim, who is out of the house, hiding at another address.

Gabriela and a friend went to the nightclub where the confusion occurred at the invitation of her ex-boyfriend. They would have had a disagreement during the party and, according to the aggressor’s version, recorded in the police report, the girl would have attacked him with a bottle. This aggression, as presented in the document, would have been the reason for the discussion. However, according to Gabriela, the confusion started after he took her cell phone that was with her friend.

“He took my cell phone and I went after him asking for the device”, says the victim. According to the young woman, to gain access to the device, the ex punched her friend in the face. “Before hitting me, he hit my friend, trying to get my cell phone that was with her. She also took a punch in the face”, says Gabriela.

Still according to the young woman, during the confusion, the nightclub security asked them to leave the space. The attacks, however, continued outside the house. Gabriela was hit by a punch and fainted. “I lost consciousness, all I know is that he and his friend took me into the woods and attacked me, I don’t remember very well how it all happened”, she reports.

After the attacks in the woods, the young woman was taken to the house where the boy lives. She stayed in the property for about three hours, where she suffered other attacks. “He threw me in the shower stall at his house. There was a lot of blood running down my head”, recalls Gabriela. When she woke up, the young woman was alone and without clothes. “My red dress, which I wore at the club, has not been found to this day,” she says.

The young woman was rescued to the North Emergency Unit (UPA) and then sent to Risoleta Tolentino Neves Hospital. Last Monday (12), she underwent examinations at the Legal Medical Institute (IML). A police report was registered and the case is being investigated by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais. She and her ex-boyfriend were together for six months.

The relationship, according to the young woman, was marked by several episodes of violence, especially at parties and when he consumed alcoholic beverages. “We were separated precisely because of that. There was a party at a place, where we were together, and he cheated on me. I decided to separate and he started to attack me. A policeman who took me out of their hands and left me at my mother’s house,” reports the young woman who decided to move to São Paulo due to fear.

Since the separation, the man has tried to get back together with his ex-partner. According to her, the ex sent flowers while she was at a beauty salon. “It is a person that you feel, you do not imagine that he has the capacity to do what he did. He is a guy that I believed in the good side, even in the face of this aggressive history. I know that he suffered with the separation and even said that we could be friends. I think that was my mistake”, he evaluates.
