A driver with signs of intoxication ran over a couple who were at the bus stop, 

and a woman died, in the Cruz das Armas neighborhood, in João Pessoa, 

around 6 am this Saturday (27).



According to the Military Police, Ednalda da Silva Pontes, 59, 

was going to wait for the bus to get to work, at a supermarket in the Valentina neighborho



Deputy Lídia Veloso, who was at the scene, informed that the driver would be charged with intentional homicide, 

when he assumes the intention to kill, and he must undergo a custody hearing later today.



According to the military police and the delegate, the driver was visibly intoxicated. 

The delegate requested BPTran for a breathalyzer test, but they did not arrive at the scene and the man was taken to the police station.



Ednalda died instantly and her husband was taken to the Trauma Hospital.



According to information from Trauma, Joaquim Barbosa da Silva, 59, suffered multiple fractures. 

His state of health is stable.



​The supermarket where Ednalda worked mourned her death. "Ednalda was the victim of a fatality, 

at a bus stop on the main avenue of Oitizeiro, which also left other people injured. All our solidarity 

and condolences to the family, friends and employees who worked daily with dear Dona Flor, 

affectionately nicknamed by everyone who knew her.
