Three managers from the Boxer supermarket chain were shot and killed during an internal disciplinary hearing held at one of the company’s facilities in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on Saturday, October 10. The primary suspect is a former employee of the chain, who allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire during the proceedings.

Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the KwaZulu-Natal police, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect was attending an internal hearing when he launched the attack.

"The suspect allegedly drew a firearm and opened fire on three individuals, who were declared dead at the scene," the spokesperson stated.

Following the crime, the police launched a search for the former employee, who remained at large until the information was made public.

Security camera footage capturing the shooting was shared on social media, particularly on Facebook. A post accompanying the videos questioned the level of violence in society and suggested that the incident might have been motivated by a disagreement over a denied leave request. However, this information has not been officially confirmed by the authorities.

In a statement, the Boxer retail chain expressed its sorrow over the deaths of the three managers and offered its solidarity to the victims' families and friends. The company also noted that it is providing support to employees affected by the tragedy.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the families and loved ones, whom we have been supporting since this tragedy occurred," the retailer stated.

The company added that it will continue to provide support to employees who have been deeply affected by the incident.
