Fábio Caetano da Silva, 39, died early Thursday morning (10) at the Agreste Emergency Hospital (HEA) in Arapiraca after a piece of wood had been inserted into his anus. He had been found lying on a sidewalk on Tuesday morning (8) in the municipality of Igaci, suffering from severe hemorrhaging and signs of head trauma.

The victim was rescued and underwent surgery lasting approximately four hours. The object had perforated internal organs, and it was necessary to remove part of his large intestine. Fábio did not survive his injuries.

The Civil Police detained an adolescent identified as the perpetrator of the assault. In his statement, he confessed to knocking Fábio down, restraining him, and inserting his arm into the victim's anus. The adolescent was located at his home and taken to the Integrated Public Security Center (CISP) in Igaci. He will face charges for an offense analogous to homicide.

The circumstances behind the crime are still under investigation. Police are analyzing surveillance camera footage showing the suspect walking through the city streets with the piece of wood, his face covered.
