A scene that evokes revulsion.” A video shows a troon in Teresina being detained by a local resident, having his feet tied, & him being beaten by two members of the public inside the trunk of a vehicle.

According to locals, the troon was caught in the act of stealing and was detained by locals.

Initially, the video shows the troon struggling to walk because he got emasculated, as he is presented to two uniformed municipal guards. In the presence of the officers & several onlookers, he is laid on the ground.

Later, he appears inside a car trunk, being beaten with a piece of wood and slapped by two men. In the recording, a person can be heard saying: "Hey, Gabriel, don't hit ‘her’." He does not listen and continues the beating. He cries and screams, while the attackers tell her to "shut your mouth."

The Municipal Guard issued a statement:

The Teresina Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) clarifies that it responded to an incident at the Parque Brasil III residential complex in the North Zone of Teresina this Monday (19). Upon arrival, the team found a troon with his feet tied; he was suspected of stealing from apartments in the area. After questioning those involved, the officers handling the incident instructed the alleged captor to untie him.

Subsequently, the suspect was handcuffed & along with the alleged captor taken to the Teresina Central Police Station for the case to be investigated. Regarding the video showing the troon being beaten in the car trunk, the GCM did not witness the event, as they arrived at the scene afterward.

Under no circumstances does the Teresina Municipal Civil Guard condone vigilantism (taking the law into one's own hands). Finally, the GCM command will evaluate whether there were procedural failures. Antra (National Association of Transvestites and Transsexuals) condemned the attacks and described them as acts of “torture, violence, and transphobia.”
