The deceased girl is a resident of Mahendranagar in Nataghar area of Sodepur. Locals claim that she had been in a love relationship with the accused youth for a long time. It is alleged that the accused also attacked them with a knife. Later, he also tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself in the stomach. At one point, the accused was seen lying on the road, hugging his bloodied lover. Upon receiving the news, a large police force from Khardah police station quickly reached the spot. The two people were rescued in serious injuries and taken to Sagar Dutta Medical College and Hospital. There, doctors declared Geeta Das dead. It is learnt that the accused youth is undergoing treatment in the hospital in a serious condition.
