A video shared on social media captures the moment Renan Gabriel Barbosa de Souza, 27, fatally stabs Ronaldo Rodrigues dos Santos, 57, who was already lying on the floor inside a small apartment in Vila Santa Terezinha, located in Aquidauana, roughly 141 kilometers from Campo Grande, Brazil. The footage was recorded by Jackson da Silva Pedra, 35, who was also taken into custody.


In the video, Renan explains his motive for the crime, claiming that the victim had stolen his marijuana and his purse. "He robbed me, stole my marijuana and stole my purse. I'll serve about 30 years in prison, but that's how it works," Renan states during the recording. At one point, Jackson, who is holding the camera, asks, "What did he do to you?" before urging Renan to stop: "Okay, that's enough, that's enough." Renan then adds, "This is an example for those who make mistakes, okay family? This is an example for those who steal."


The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday (21). Military Police were initially dispatched following a report of a fight and received additional information en route that a deceased individual was at the scene. Upon arriving at the apartment, authorities discovered Ronaldo's body.


Both Renan and Jackson later turned themselves in voluntarily and admitted their involvement in the crime. They appeared to be under the influence of substances when they surrendered. Renan openly confessed to committing the murder and acknowledged that Jackson had filmed the act. Both men were arrested on-site.


The investigation revealed that Ronaldo and the two suspects had worked together at a charcoal factory and lived in the same apartment. Authorities have classified the case as simple homicide, and it is currently being investigated by the Civil Police.
