The number of people killed in a tragedy between a bus and a truck on the BR-040 rises to 17

Two more victims died in the serious accident between a Conenge company bus and a truck. The information comes from the delegate responsible for the investigation into the tragedy, André Pelli. The raid took place in March this year, on BR-040 in Felixlândia, in the Central Region of Minas Gerais, and killed 17 company employees.

According to the delegate, in addition to the confirmed victims during the accident, Wallace Ferreira and Douglas Sena died. Pelli still does not know the date of death of the employees, as he is awaiting a death certificate to attach to the process. During the accident investigations, the delegate heard Conenge employees, accident survivors and drivers. The conclusion of the investigation, which pointed to blame for the tragedy, should come out in the next 15 or 20 days.

According to the police, the Conenge company bus (from Ipatinga), which was heading in the direction of Paracatu/Paraopeba, was behind a coal truck and, in the opposite direction, the trailer was coming, carrying an immense steel tube.

The truck would have left for the shoulder, to give way to the truck. Interpreting the gesture as a sign of overtaking, the bus driver would have gone to the middle of the lane, when it collided with the trailer. With the shock, the tube invaded the body of the bus and broke it in half.

Only the final result of the investigation will point out flaws, errors or acts of recklessness that may point to culprits for the crash, but the delegate had already advanced that the driver of the Conenge company bus, Armando Anselmo Farias, should be indicted for manslaughter. “The biggest difficulty is listening to everyone involved. I have to gather all the evidence and analyze it together to indicate what happened”, concludes Pelli.
