According to preliminary information, the doctor was traveling in a white Hyundai Tucson SUV when he allegedly fell asleep, causing the vehicle to crash into a guardrail.
The incident occurred just after 7:00 a.m. After the accident, Dr. Muñoz's body was trapped inside the vehicle, and he was rescued around 9:00 a.m. by emergency units.
The body was taken to the morgue at Luis Manuel Morillo King Hospital in La Vega, while authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Members of the National 9-1-1 Emergency Response System and agents from the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and provided assistance.
