Santana do Manhuaçu, Minas Gerais, Brazil
A 26-year-old man was stabbed to death just a few hours after leaving the Manhuaçu prison. The deceased was identified as Eduardo.
Eduardo had been released from the prison unit around 8pm, where he had been held since June of this year for homicide. Approximately two hours after his release, he returned to Santana do Manhuaçu accompanied by his sister and ended up being attacked.
According to reports, Eduardo was walking toward a bar to buy cigarettes when he was approached by three people. Witnesses stated that the attackers, allegedly relatives of a homicide victim attributed to him, were armed with knives and stones. The man tried to flee but was caught and stabbed multiple times, including a fatal blow to the throat.
He was taken for medical care but arrived lifeless at the town’s health centre. Forensic investigators found bloodstains at the scene and collected a cell phone, later identified as belonging to one of the suspects. None of the accused have been located so far.
