A 32-year-old man, resident of São José do Rio Preto (SP), had part of his leg amputated after a failed escape attempt, on the afternoon of this Saturday, (06/14/2025), in the municipality of Pindorama (SP). The incident occurred near the train line and the Boiadeira road, when the individual broke into a residence where a couple and their daughter live.
According to information from the Military Police, the intruder entered the house and hid in the bathroom. It was the child herself who ended up finding the suspect, which caused panic among the residents. When he was surprised, the man fled taking two cell phones and a notebook. The owner of the house did not hesitate and began a chase through the nearby streets.
In a desperate attempt to escape, the suspect tried to climb onto a moving train, but ended up falling between the carriages. One of his legs was hit by the train and, due to the severity of his injuries, his foot and part of his leg had to be amputated.
SAMU teams were called and provided first aid at the scene. The man was initially taken to the Pindorama Emergency Room and then transferred to the Padre Albino Hospital in Catanduva (SP), where he would undergo surgery.
The Military Police, technical experts and the Fire Department were also on site to record the incident and ensure the safety of the area. The suspect was arrested for qualified theft and remained hospitalized under police escort. The case remains under investigation.
