The first homicide of 2024 in Currais Novos occurred this Tuesday (27) during an attempted robbery at a gas station in the municipality.
The victim was a man who worked as a security guard at establishments in the region. He tried to react to the criminal action and, in addition to being shot, was stabbed in the back before the criminals fled.
Security camera footage shows the arrival of three men at the establishment at 6:15 pm. They captured an employee and the security guard himself. With violence, they attacked the two, ordering them to go to the internal area of the establishment.
When trying to avoid the robbery, the victim reacted and the criminals then shot. The last of them, while fleeing, stabbed the victim in the back, who fell, already lifeless, in front of the establishment.
According to the Military Police, no one was arrested at the time of reporting. The efforts continue to try to capture those involved in the crime.
