A man was seriously injured on Wednesday night (27) when he tried to rob the Colégio Professora Célia Martins Menna Barreto, in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Videos circulating on social media show the man with no clothes on, his entire body burned and parts of his skin missing.
The suspect broke into the school in Rua Mongólia and caused the explosion after breaking the gas pipe. He was taken in serious condition to the Albert Schweiter Municipal Hospital in Realengo.
A Civil Defense team carried out an inspection of the site at dawn on Thursday (28). The kitchen and cafeteria were destroyed and have been closed. Preliminary investigation has indicated that there is no risk of collapse.
