MANILA, Philippines — A policeman was killed while one of the two suspects he shot was injured in a buy-bust operation at the Baao Catholic Cemetery compound in Brgy. Buluang, Baao, Camarines Sur, last afternoon.
The victim, identified as Staff/Sgt., died while receiving treatment at the Bicol Medical Center in Naga City. Richard Rodero, intelligence officer of the Tinambac Municipal Police Station.
The wounded suspect, Marvin Badilla, is being observed at the hospital while pursuing his escaped companion, identified as Allan Sumayao.
According to the report, after 3:00 in the afternoon, the authorities launched a buy-bust operation against Badilla and Sumayao who chose to transact inside the cemetery in the town of Baao.
While doing the transaction, the suspects realized that the police were in front of them, so they pulled out their guns and shot at Staff/Sgt. Rodero.
Although Rodero was wounded, he was able to return fire and hit Badilla. While Sumayao was able to escape.
