KOLAKA TIMUR, TELISIK.ID - A resident was attacked by a crocodile when he was about to install a fishing net on the riverbank of Wunggoloko Village, Ladongi District, East Kolaka Regency, Sunday (15/10/2023).

Ladongi Police Chief, Inspector Nyoman Sila, said the victim was Marzuki, 56 years old, a resident of Aere.

He explained that his party was currently at the crime scene to protect residents from getting too close to the victim and the crocodile, while waiting for the SAR team to arrive at the crime scene.

"The victim is still in the river, and currently his legs can still be seen," he explained.

He added that the victim was attacked by a crocodile when he was trying to catch fish with 12 of his friends

"His friend was the first to see that the victim was about to be eaten by the crocodile, then he shouted and sought help from local residents," he said.

Meanwhile, one of the victim's colleagues, Mungkar, said that his daily routine was to fish in the river.

"I've fished here several times," he explained.

He said that the first time he saw the victim was in the crocodile's mouth and was not fighting back at all.

"I immediately sought help," he said briefly.

Meanwhile, East Kolaka Police Chief, AKBP Yudhi Palmi DJ, in his official statement, said that at 07.00 WITA, the victim left his house in Pekorea Village, Aere District, along with 12 of his friends using a Daihatsu Grand Max Pick Up car heading to the river in Wunggoloko Village, Ladongi District, aims to find fish.
