A minor under the age of six -named Aitana ' D'- died this Tuesday, July 11, at the Facilities of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) no. 18 in Playa del Carmen , Quintana Roo, after being trapped in an elevator at the hospital facilities.

The tragedy occurred when the minor was transferred on a stretcher that was not properly secured , since it did not fully enter the elevator, causing it to crush the minor by pressing the button to go up, causing her death.

The girl entered the clinic to be treated for dengue around 10:00 p.m. on Monday.

According to Renán Quintal, a correspondent for El Financiero , private security personnel and the hospital workers themselves tried to hide the facts , since " they never made any call for help to the emergency number 911. "

However, the IMSS issued a statement in which they assure that the management personnel of the medical unit "gave notice to the competent authorities."

The citizens who were inside the IMSS clinic 18 mentioned that this elevator had many faults and that it even required maintenance.

The parents of the minor, Patricio " D " and Deimy " C ", assure that they did not receive support from the hospital and fear for their safety , since this event could trigger the appearance of multiple irregularities that exist in the hospital infrastructure of the place.

Prosecutor confirms arrest of alleged perpetrator

The Quintana Roo attorney general's office reported that it opened an investigation folder after Aitana's death in an elevator at the IMSS clinic in the municipality of Solidaridad.

According to the authorities, a male person was detained while the causes of the events that led to this unfortunate death are determined.
