Two men, identified as Alessandro Francisco da Luz and Diego Sobrinho da Silva, who were serving a sentence for murder at the Regional Prison Unit (URP) in Anápolis, died after a fight this Friday morning (07).
According to the General Directorate of Penitentiary Administration (DGAP), responsible for the prison, the incident occurred during a procedure to release inmates from one of the wings for “sunbathing”.
According to the information, the detainees would have started a generalized fight in the corridor and during the confusion, Alessandro and Diego would have been stabbed.
After the police were able to contain the fight, the Mobile Emergency Service (SAMU) was called and found the deaths of the two detainees. The Legal Medical Institute (IML) went to the prison unit and removed the bodies.
The DGAP informed that internal administrative procedures were opened to verify the facts, and that from now on, the homicides will be investigated by the Civil Police. In addition, due to the fight, the prisoners, the block where the incident took place are suspended from receiving visits from family members and delivery of food.
