Carolaine Gómez Carreño had a dream: to graduate from high school this year and continue studying to become a professional. However, that dream was cut short on the morning of this Wednesday, April 5. The tragedy happened when the 18-year-old girl lost her life in a terrible traffic accident on the road to Mamonal, in Cartagena. According to the versions of witnesses and relatives, Carolaine was riding a motorcycle with three occupants: a cousin of hers, a minor, and a trusted motorcycle taxi driver who had taken them on an errand.

Upon returning to his home, in the Los Girasoles neighborhood, on Cerro de Albornoz, the driver tried to pass a tractor-trailer carrying a container and that was when the tragedy occurred.

It has not yet been established clearly if the motorcycle was hit by the heavy vehicle or if it simply lost its balance trying to overtake it.

The truth is that Carolaine, who was at the end of the motorcycle, fell to the pavement and was run over by the tires of the tractor-trailer, which dragged her about 15 meters.

The young woman died immediately, while her cousin and the motorcycle taxi driver she was driving were injured and were taken to a care center.

The Traffic Police began investigations to determine the causes of the accident and establish its responsibilities.
