Commissioner Oscar Cuevas, head of the Pedro Juan Caballero 1st Police Station, in an interview with Radio 1000, reported that a prison agent was riddled with bullets last night by unknown persons, who would have used a 7.62 caliber rifle to end his life. The deceased was identified as Robert Osmar Ortiz Villalba, 40, who was serving at the Regional Penitentiary in the capital of Amambay.

The victim was helped by passers-by and taken to the Pedro Juan Caballero Regional Hospital, where he arrived with no signs of life.

The homicide was recorded on Wednesday at approximately 7:10 p.m., on General Bruguez and Colón streets, in the Mariscal Estigarribia neighborhood, right behind the Regional Hospital, Department of Amambay.

Subsequently, the National Police found a fully incinerated vehicle, which was presumably the one used by the hit men.

The Ministry of Justice reported that Ortiz was murdered outside of his business hours.
