An army soldier was stabbed to death and another was injured, on Monday (5), in the village of Ponte Velha, in Santa Maria da Vitória, a city in western Bahia. The victim was identified as 19-year-old Vandison Talio dos Santos Bispo.

The soldier who was injured was not named. He was taken to a hospital in the municipality of Correntina, about 54 kilometers from the crime scene, and there are no details on his health status.

According to the Civil Police of the region, the victims were with two other soldiers, who managed to flee the attack. All of them were part of the Guará Detachment, which currently carries out the railway work for the Brazilian Army, in Lot 6F of the West-East Integration Railway (FIOL).

Still according to the police, the group watched the game of the Brazilian national team against South Korea in a bar. When leaving the scene, the soldiers were surprised by two men on a motorcycle. One of the suspects got out of the vehicle and attacked the victims.

There is still no information about authorship, nor motivation for the crime, which is investigated by the city police station. There are also no details about the burial of Vandison's body.

In a note, the Army reported that the Command of the 4th BEC, in which the soldiers were part, deeply regrets what happened and expresses condolences to the family and friends of Soldier Talio.

The Battalion also informed that it has provided all the necessary support to the families of the victims.
