Just for clarity, that's a 100% normal everyday car with steel welded onto it. I don't see how that's redundant. They're on the front and sides in only a few areas. It's to prevent the driver, engine, and tires from incoming bullets if and when whoever they're approaching realizes they're not going to stop and likely going to blow up. Those are all suicide bombers and their only goal is to reach their target without dying or being stopped before they get there. There have been many videos of both machine gun fire disabling the engine or driver before reaching the target. As well as snipers killing the driver before reaching their destination. They used to have a very low success rate with suicide bomber cars. Making the bomb and person wasted for no gain. They don't take chances out there. If you drive towards any military encampment, base, post, or whatever. And they signal you to stop yet you fail to listen. You are going to get heavy fire real quick. The dumb Arabs are just smart enough to realize they can block those two things.  Making it harder to take them out before they get to you.

The idea that those plates would do anything but cause that car to do:  wreck into an abandoned gas station, or whatever bullshit building these sandbags drove out of business; as the driver is as committed to this fucking idea is shown him trying to get out as fast he died in the process.
Again, those plates would not stop an rpg, tank round, or a high .50 cal machine gun.   The idea supremely stupid, nevermind useless, and counterproductive.

Okay, I slightly considered that being loosely what you meant but wasn't too sure. The success rate is pretty high since they started doing that shit though. The steel obviously wouldn't stop the things you listed. Those also aren't always at hand and are not the common soldier's weapons. But it greatly improves their odds by adding steel. Here's one statistic that should make it clear that they're more successful than you might think. Between 1981 and 2006, that type of suicide bombing made up only 4% of all the terror attacks worldwide. A very large percent of that 4% did fail completely. But that alone is misleading. Because they caused 32% of all deaths by all terrorist attacks. Obviously, September the eleventh had a huge impact on many figures because of the unusually high death count. So it can be looked at as not the most telling number. But to be the cause of 32% of deaths from all terrorist attacks such as shootings, i.e.ds, other types of bombings, stabbings, and whatever else. It's pretty damn substantial. Especially if you consider more than half of that 4% failed. That rate has gone up drastically since 2006. Though I can't prove it at this very second. Nor do I feel like looking into the numbers. But I personally would attribute the rise of successful car suicide bombings to the steel shit they nigger rig. That'd be more of my feeling from what I've seen though. I could easily be wrong and the higher success could be due to many other things. I see what you mean too but I think even though the steel makes them slower, harder to navigate with any speed or surprise will surely create other problems and maybe just flying in there real quick without the steel might be a better idea.
