Racing is actually pretty brutal, and not always in a good way. I especially like when the jockeys fall off and get trampled by all the other horses or even their own horse. It sucks when the horses get hurt, though, and that happens a lot. Over 800 thoroughbreds die on the track each year because they break a leg and have to be "euthanized". Decades of "refinement" has made thoroughbreds a shit-ton faster, but they're so delicate they barely survive their careers. It's unfair to the animals too. If a horse breaks its leg on the track, "meh, no problem", but if I have a horse and it breaks its leg on my land I get arrested for animal cruelty? Bullshit.
