Yessenia Álava, approximately 35 years old, was shot at when she was traveling alone, 

in a gray Chevrolet Captiva vehicle, with license plates PDK - 5559.



The event was recorded at approximately 2:30 p.m., this Monday, 

July 18, at the San Carlos neighborhood, on the Spondylus route, jurisdiction of Manta, 

province of Manabí.



After being the target of the violent attack, 

the woman lost control of the vehicle and hit a cane fence and a tree.

Álava was assisted by elements of the Manta Fire Department, 

removed from the vehicle and transferred to a local health home.



"The woman was seriously injured. We transferred her to a health home with still vital signs. 

She had some shots in different parts of her body," said Xavier Briones, 

head of the Manta Fire Department.



Police officers from Criminalistics and Dinased arrived at the site, inspected the vehicle. 

"Three pods and a deformed bullet have been collected that have caused injuries to the citizen. 

"We are carrying out operations in order to find the causes," 

said Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo Yanez, chief of the Manta District.



The residents of the San Carlos neighborhood were terrified by what happened, 

as they assured that something similar was happening for the first time.
