Militants fired upon the policemen from a close range in Srinagar’s busy Barzulla Baghat area. The injured policemen were shifted to a hospital but they died of their injuries.
The area was cordoned off and a search launched to nab the attackers, officials said.
Earlier in the day, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar said three local Al-Badr militants were encircled on Thursday night and killed early Friday in Shopian.
“All the three slain militants are locals. Two AK-47 rifles and a pistol have been recovered from their possession,” Mr. Kumar said.
