An attempted robbery at a commercial establishment triggered a violent confrontation that culminated in the death of an alleged thief.
The Neiva Metropolitan Police issued a statement about the incident in which an alleged criminal died in the south of the city, specifically at the intersection of 19 South Street and 7. According to the official report:
At approximately 11:20 a.m. today, Tuesday, the authorities received a call through emergency line 123, alerting about a possible theft in a commercial establishment in the area.
Immediately, police patrols moved to the indicated location, finding a man of about 22 years old lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. According to eyewitnesses, this individual, identified as Henry David Perdomo, alias "Uca", had attempted to commit an armed robbery.
During the event, a confrontation took place between the young man and the victims, resulting in the alleged thief and a relative of one of the victims being seriously injured. The latter was taken to a medical center to receive care.
The Criminal Investigation Section (SIJIN), in collaboration with the Attorney General's Office, is carrying out an exhaustive investigation to clarify the details of the incident.
Henry David had a criminal record for crimes such as qualified and aggravated robbery, drug trafficking and domestic violence.
Meanwhile, the person who confronted the alleged thief is cooperating with authorities, providing his version of events to contribute to the ongoing investigation.
